At Wilderness Tours, we have had the distinct pleasure of welcoming both whitewater rafting and kayaking guests alike for nearly 50 years. For whitewater kayakers looking to take advantage of the premier resort location on the Ottawa River look no further than Wilderness Tours!
Beginning in 1975 as a regional summer adventure, our resort has transformed into a world-renowned adventure vacation destination. We’ve carefully designed our resort common areas, including numerous decks and porches to take advantage of our spectacular view location on the banks of the mighty Ottawa River.
Designed for the whole family, this fun-filled resort allows you to choose your adventure. After your whitewater kayaking adventure, take advantage of our inflatable waterpark, stand-up paddle boards, 17 KM of on-site downhill mountain biking trails, or choose to go for a hike on one of our extensive trails.
Want to relax a bit more? Come relax in our timber sauna and go for a refreshing swim in the warm waters of the Ottawa River.
Although competitors, the rafting and whitewater kayaking companies on the Ontario side have worked together for decades to speak and act as one voice for the betterment of the Ottawa River, the community and their industry.
By working together, they have contributed to safety, conservation and now, free access for private kayak, canoe and SUP.
Continuing in the spirit of cooperation, these companies have signed an historic 10-year agreement to provide free recreational paddler access at the Put In, Lorne/Black Chute Rapids and the Take-Out. Due to their combined efforts, the Ottawa River is and will remain one of the world’s great paddling rivers.
Any commercial use must be prearranged with Wilderness Tours Resort. Inflatables are not allowed, please obey all marked speed limits.
With a nightly rate of $20 per adult and $10 per child, this is quite possibly the best paddler campsite in Canada.
Located at the takeout for the whitewater stretch of the Ottawa River on river right of the confluence of the Main and Middle channel of the Ottawa River. It doesn’t get much better for whitewater paddlers for location.
Combine that with all the sites being walking distance with path downstream with access to the Park Village and all of it’s amenities, it doesn’t get any better than that.
It’s ideal isolation is perfect for a quiet paddling weekend away. Please remember that these sites are LNT (Leave no trace). Everything packed in is required to be packed out. Help us keep our river clean.
Riverside Takeout camp sites do have outhouses located nearby and spring fed potable water. Maximum of 5 persons per site.
Since 1980, the Ottawa Kayak School at Wilderness Tours has been a leader in the whitewater kayaking instructional world. From single day private instruction to our world-famous three week youth development program, Keeners, Ottawa Kayak School offers an instructional avenue for everyone.
Newly expanded for the 2025 season, Wilderness Tours and the Ottawa Kayak School will be hosting four whitewater kayaking events including freestyle, boater-cross and downriver races in an effort to promote and foster the growing Ottawa River paddling community.
