Program Overview:

Starting Sunday evening, the Lil Ripper program is designed for children who already have a basic understanding of whitewater kayaking and a solid roll. This week-long program focuses on refining skills and expanding their kayaking knowledge, with hands-on coaching in a variety of key areas, including:

  • Freestyle Coaching: Learn essential freestyle techniques on the world-class whitewater of the Ottawa River, designed to challenge young paddlers and elevate their skills.
  • Whitewater Rescue Skills: Gain critical rescue knowledge to improve river safety and ensure paddlers are prepared for any situation.
  • River Reading and Line Selection: Understand how to read the river, select the best lines, and navigate through different types of whitewater rapids.
  • Injury Prevention & Goal Setting: Learn the importance of staying safe on the river while setting personal goals to track improvement.
  • Competition Preparation: For those interested in taking their kayaking to the next level, the program offers valuable tips for competition and performance improvement.
Daily Reflection & Writing Skills

In addition to kayaking, Lil Rippers are encouraged to engage in daily diary writing sessions to improve their writing and self-reflection skills. This unique addition not only supports personal growth but also enhances their ability to reflect on their progress in a fun and engaging way.

Parental Supervision

While the Lil Ripper program is designed for young paddlers, participants must be supervised by a parent or guardian in the evenings to ensure their well-being and enjoyment throughout the week.

If you’re local to the Ottawa River Valley or prefer not to stay overnight, we offer a Day Camp option for Lil Rippers. Drop off your child between 8:00 am – 9:00 am and pick them up at 4:30 pm each day. The program starts on Sunday evening, but daily arrival time remains the same for all participants.
