As a whitewater kayak instructor I’ve had the distinct pleasure of leading many trips of differing intensities and locations throughout the last several years.
The Pucón Kayak Retreat is near and dear to my heart as is the whitewater that is available right out of it’s front door. The trip style of the Pucón Kayak Retreat is much like what you’ve come to expect at the Ottawa Kayak School just in the picturesque town of Pucón Chile!
Owner of the Pucón Kayak Retreat, David Hughes, has been running multi-day whitewater programs in Chile long before I became a whitewater instructor and has developed his location into a must visit staple for the traveling kayaker.

Day 1.
Bienvenidos a Pucon, Chile
Arrival to Temuco Airport (ZCO) between 11 AM to 5 PM.
Boat outfitting and welcome. Possible Lower Trancura river assessment run(pending timing)
Welcome to Pucón Kayak Retreat appetizers, provisions, and dinner by fire.
Day 2.
Rio Liucura or Upper Trancura
AM/PM (Full day) – Kayak assessment, goals, drills and runs of the Rio Liurcura or Upper Trancura.
Afternoon appetizers/provisions
Day 4.
Rio San Pedro (read more)
AM – Early departure for San Pedro.
PM – Drive to Lago Panguipulli Lodging (Lower Fuy Takeout)
Day 5.
Rio Fuy Fun
AM – Breakfast and Lower Fuy with Middle Fuy below class V canyon advanced option.
PM – Upper Rio Fuy Option.
Day 6.
Mas Fuy!
AM – Fuy Choice Lap
PM – Return to Pucón
Day 7.
Choice Pucón River Sections
AM – Upper Palguin laps or session a clean waterfall.
PM – Upper Palguin with optional double header Upper Trancura lap to home base.
Celebration Asado. The farewell asado BBQ is a celebration to cherish and remember your time in Pucon with incredible food and live music.
Day 8.
DAY 8, SAT. Pack, Activity Option, Departure Transfers
AM – One last quick run on the water, schedule permitting. Airport transfers.
PM – Temuco Airport (ZCO) Departure Flights Between 11 AM to 5 PM.
