Algonquin College x Wilderness Tours
20 years ago, Algonquin College, after an exhaustive search, chose Wilderness Tours to be their exclusive delivery partner for their new 2-year diploma program in Outdoor Adventure.
Selected on the basis of our outdoor campus, facilities, and programs suitable for every age student, from college down to elementary. We have the expertise to deliver the learning outcomes required for each school.

Wilderness Tours facilitates many school programs annually from day trips to multi-day stay-over experiences.
Our different whitewater rafting programs can fit well into a before-lunch of after-lunch time block. Choose from the options listed below to create the most immersive outdoor educational experience for your students!
Swiftwater Rescue
Get comfortable in the whitewater environment with swiftwater rescue training. Participants learn how to swim in Class I-III whitewater effectively with proper techniques in on the world’s best swiftwater rescue classrooms.
Throw Rope Rescue Skills – 2H
Throw ropes, or throw-bags, are a core piece of gear for any water activity. However, they are especially important in swift-water environments. Learning proper techniques of this versatile piece of gear is a skill for life.
Cave Exploration Adventure
Within walking distance from our outdoor centre, explore caves formed by the melt waters from the end of the last ice age. Imagine 10 times the flow in the Ottawa River, placing the river banks 70 feet higher than they are today!
Gorge Rim Hike in the Ottawa River Provincial Park
Adjacent Wilderness Tours Outdoor Centre is a large piece of the Ottawa River Provincial Park. A loop trail takes you and your students on a 2-3 hour moderate hike along the rim of an ancient gorge from the last ice age.
Water Park Free Swim
Inflatable slides, teeter-totter and climbing walls are positioned in the bay near the main beach. Life jackets are required as there is no life guard on duty.
Camp Fire & Evening Games
The sports courts and games area are under the lights and next to the main Rafters Pavilion. Group camp fires are available in this area or at alternative sites in the surrounding forest upon request.
